The essence of the project is to turn the existing Council network into a single WiFi hotspot with no services being hosted locally serving only to provide onward access to the internet which will be accessible to anyone including staff, guests and members of the general public. Staff will connect to applications, systems and services in a SaaS, PaaS, IaaS based fashion, as the Council’s data centre will be separated from the internal network and presented instead as a cloud-like service.
