We're at the early stages of working with Cloud9Technologies on a potential Amazon Echo skill for councils using the Cloud9 mobile app.

This uses the existing open API developed by Cloud9 for delivering data on waste collections (re-used at www.oxford.gov.uk/mybinday) to enable Amazon Echo queries around collection dates and types.

A further development in hand is to extend this to deal with recycling questions (e.g. "can I recycle cling film") with the response either directing to general waste collection, kerbside recycling collection or household waste recycling centre.

Current issues to resolve are; * ensuring user address details can be captured adequately to generate an accurate UPRN * extending the vocabulary of the skill around categories and phrases relating to similar materials (e.g. clothes will include jeans, t-shirts, shirts etc) * developing a UI for the app console to confirm which materials fall under which type of waste, with an option for additional phrases to be added to clarify instructions

We may look to share any potential development costs with other councils should it gain support for funding
